Bulilis (officially Barangay Bulilis) is one of the 44 barangays constituting the municipality of Ubay, in the province of Bohol, Philippines.

The barangay's total land area is approximately 7.40 km2[2] and has a population of 1,705[3]as of 2007. In the last 2010 National election, it has 823[4]registered voters.

Barangay Bulilis celebrates its annual fiesta every December 8 in honor of their patron saint.

Location

Located on the southwestern part of the municipality, barangay Bulilis is bounded by barangay Gabi and to the north. It is bounded by the municipality of San Miguel to the west, to the south, by barangay California, and to the east by barangay San Pascual.

Barangay Bulilis is 20 kilometers from the town center, Poblacion and 5 kilometers distance to the National Highway. It is landlocked barangay and the topography is plain.

Etymology

The name of the Barangay is taken from the landowner’s name, the late, Juan Bulilis.

Government

There are seven puroks or units in the barangay manned by the elected kagawads including the Punong Barangay or Barangay chairman.

Agricultural Profile

Barangay's major food crops are, rice, corn, cassava, root crops, vegetables and others. And the common livestock is chicken, swine,goats, ducks and others.

Socio- Economic Profile

Most common type or kind of dwelling unit are semi-concrete, concrete, nipa, bamboo, barong-barong and others. Sources of drinking water supply are deepwells, open dugwells, Artesian wells and spring.

With regards our electricity services, there are 132 households already energized. Barangay has as Elementary School with complete grade levels from grade 1 to grade 6. And also have a Barangay Health Center.

The Barangay is near the Provincial Road far from the National Road and very far from the Municipal Road. Our most common transport facilities are, motorcyles, tricycles, jeepney, and buses. Household sources of income are, farming, self- employment, domestic helpers, carpenters, masons and others.

The main source of income of the Barangay is the 20% Barangay Development Fund from the IRA or Internal Revenue Allotment share from internal revenue taxes, estate taxes, business taxes and others.
